What is perfectly organized in Catania is the restaurants. But keep in mind that almost all establishments open only for dinner, so having a delicious lunch is not an easy task. A couple of times we had dinner in the courtyard of Trattoria De Fiore , where they serve delicious pasta with pistachios, mussels in tomato sauce, grilled swordfish and treat them with limoncella. To our surprise, in the port of Catania we found very nice bars with delicious cocktails and a pleasant atmosphere. Perfect to end the evening!
The next stop on our journey was the city of Syracuse, or rather the Ortigia Peninsula. This is the historical, old part of the city, and all the main attractions are located here. We decided to settle immediately on the peninsula and did not lose. The whole of Ortigia is like a movie set. Small houses made of white stone, blue sea on both sides, beautiful yachts and colorful shops. It is not surprising that the film "Malena" with Monica Bellucci was filmed in this city. Here you feel like you are on a film set.
Sicilians are friendly and extremely sociable. They will definitely ask where you are from and what your name is, and they will proudly tell you what goods are in his store of his own production. There is some kind of family atmosphere of tranquility mixed with resort joys.
