The only teams who are bigger favorites than KC are the Bills and Cowboys, who are both at home. Denver’s defense has started breaking over the past few weeks, at least late in games, but the points and scoring margins have remained pretty low. The Broncos have only had two non-one-score games this season. It’s not too surprising at this point to see the oddsmakers jumping off any hopes of a Russell Wilson-led turnaround this season. This will be the 125th matchup between these division foes. The Chiefs are 69-55 all-time against the Broncos, including one playoff win for the Broncos.

Denver will regain several playmakers like outside linebacker Bradley Chubb from the Reserve/COVID-19 list after they missed last week's game, and his effort could go a long way in the absence of several of the secondary's top players. Denver's offense will need to be more productive than it's been recently, though. The Broncos have scored 13 or fewer points in four of their last five games, starting with a nine-point output against Kansas City in Week 13. Quarterback Drew Lock, making his third start with Teddy Bridgewater out, will look to lead that effort. He's yet to turn the ball over as the starter, but the offense has struggled in the red zone to score points.
Denver's rushing attack, led by running backs Melvin Gordon III and Javonte Williams, will also aim to bounce back from a two-week span with a total of 101 yards on the ground. INJURY UPDATEEarlier in the week, the team placed Bridgewater, guard Dalton Risner and safety Kareem Jackson on injured reserve, and on Friday, Head Coach Vic Fangio ruled out Darby (shoulder) and Surtain (calf). The team also listed four players as questionable: defensive end Shelby Harris (ankle/illness), Nate Hairston (illness) and kicker Brandon McManus and punter Sam Martin, who are currently on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

The map below will show if you’re in-market for the showdown; the Broncos game is in blue; make sure to note this if you’re out of town for the game. Oddsmakers made the Broncos one of the biggest underdogs of the week, saying they’ll lose by nine points depending on where you look. That’s made worse when you consider prognosticators expect a very low-scoring showdown, with a total of 42. 5 points. That means folks in Vegas think the Broncos will lose about around 25-16.
